Privacy & accounts
Your profile
Your name, avatar, interests, conversation prompt and bio are public and can be viewed without registering. Your email is private. Names and email addresses are self-reported and unverified.
Your account
Joining creates a profile linked to this browser through a private cookie, valid for up to one year. There is no password or email verification. Clearing site data or disconnecting removes access to this profile and its messages. Other browsers do not share this access; entering the same email there creates a separate profile. Your email is contact information, not a sign-in credential.
Public conversations
Discussion posts, names and avatars are public. Do not post private information. You can remove your own posts or report others to the organizer. Deleting your account removes your authored discussion text from the active database. Other people may have quoted or saved it. Reports are private to the organizer.
Games
Your cumulative member trivia score appears publicly with your name and avatar. Your first answer to each question is stored to save progress and prevent duplicate points. Practice answers are not stored on the server. Guest progress stays in the browser tab. Deleting your profile removes your answers and leaderboard score. Published philosopher tier lists, their groups, and optional explanations are public under your club name. Unpublished drafts stay in your browser tab. You can save multiple lists and update or unpublish each one; deleting your profile removes them. For members, logic-puzzle solved and solution-viewed markers are saved to the profile, and the solved-puzzle total appears publicly with the member name. Deleting your profile removes this progress and score. Guest logic progress stays on the device; clearing site data removes it. Games do not send email notifications.
Messages and RSVPs
Only the participants can read a conversation through the site. Messages are stored on the server and are not end-to-end encrypted. Your RSVP and name are visible to members.
Hangouts
Hangout topics, times, public locations, hosts and place counts are public. Participant lists and group chat are visible to members who join that hangout. New participants can read earlier messages. Leaving removes chat access; you can delete your messages before leaving. Deleting your profile removes your participation and messages, and any hangouts you host. Hangouts do not currently send email notifications. Use the report link to contact the organizer.
Event reminders
When email delivery is enabled, club members receive one reminder about two days before each confirmed event. Each email includes a link to stop reminders. We retain a hash of opted-out email addresses to honor that preference, including if you rejoin.
Board applications and signup notifications
Applications and new-member notifications are stored privately for the organizer and queued for email delivery. Deleting your profile removes linked applications and pending signup notifications from the active database. Already delivered email copies may remain with the organizer.
Proposals
Proposals are saved in a private organizer archive and queued for email to the organizer and submitter through the organizer’s Gmail account. The sender keeps delivery references to prevent duplicate sends and clears old references during later submissions. If automatic delivery is unavailable, the form offers an email draft which you send yourself. Email copies follow the email providers’ retention policies.
Signup records
The organizer keeps a private record of your signup time, name, email, avatar and interests. It is not shown to other members. Deleting your account removes these personal details from the record, leaving an anonymous signup timestamp.
Feedback & ideas
Feedback is stored privately for the organizer with the page path and optional reply email you provide. If you have a member profile in this browser, your name and profile are linked to the submission. Deleting that profile removes linked feedback. Anonymous feedback remains in the organizer archive. Unsent drafts stay in this browser tab. Feedback is not automatically emailed.
Leaving
Delete your account from your profile to remove your profile, RSVPs and conversations from the active site database. Other people may have saved copies of messages. Hosting backups may persist under the hosting provider’s retention practices.
For club questions or to report abuse, contact the organizer.
No advertising or analytics trackers are added by the club. Hosting and font providers may process ordinary connection information.
